Card entry modes
The card entry mode describes how card details are collected.

| Contactless | Card details are captured from NFC-enabled devices by tapping them on a contactless reader. |
| Chip and online PIN | EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) chip data is captured using a chip reader, often requiring the cardholder to enter their PIN. |
| Chip and offline PIN | EMV (Europay, Mastercard, and Visa) chip data is captured using a chip reader, often requiring the cardholder to enter their PIN. |
| Keyed | Card details are manually entered onto a device. |
| Swiped | Magnetic stripe data is captured through a card reader. |
